The album is the result of a research project exploring the concept of preservation within the context of cultural practices. The project looks at Kumina as a case study for this wider question. The project used the Musical Feedback Loop System which was developed as a multifaceted investigative and creative tool.

The first two tracks (Resonance and Resonance .01) are both made using this tool. Both sound pieces are a result of a dialogue between several black artists based between New York, London and Jamaica using sound.

The last two tracks are both field recordings made during research in Jamaica.
